Accommodation: Hotel in Kathmandu
After an early breakfast, we begin a long scenic drive following the Prithvi Highway towards Dhading and Arughat. The road gradually transitions into a rough off-road trail along the Budhi Gandaki River valley. You’ll pass through terraced fields, waterfalls, and rural settlements before reaching Machha Khola.
Accommodation: Teahouse
The trekking officially begins today. The trail includes narrow paths, suspension bridges, and small villages like Khorlabesi and Tatopani (hot springs area). After several ups and downs along the river gorge, we reach Jagat, a stone-paved village marking the entry checkpoint to the restricted Manaslu region.
Accommodation: Teahouse
The trail climbs gradually through subtropical forests, passing Salleri and Philim village. The landscape becomes more peaceful and remote as we enter deep river valleys and bamboo forests. After crossing Sirdibas and Ekle Bhatti, we continue toward Deng, a small settlement surrounded by hills and rivers.
Accommodation: Teahouse
Today’s trail involves steady ascents and descents through pine forests and traditional villages influenced by Tibetan culture. We pass Ghap and numerous mani walls carved with Buddhist prayers. As altitude increases, mountain views begin to open up, revealing peaks of the Ganesh Himal range.
Accommodation: Teahouse
A shorter yet highly scenic day. The trail passes Lihi village and Sho village, offering stunning views of Himalchuli and Ngadi Chuli. On arrival in Lho, we visit the Ribung Monastery, one of the most important monasteries in the region, with panoramic views of Mount Manaslu.
Accommodation: Teahouse
The trail gently ascends through alpine forests and wide valleys. As we approach Samagaun, the towering north face of Mount Manaslu dominates the skyline. Samagaun is one of the largest and most culturally rich villages in the region, influenced heavily by Tibetan Buddhism.
Accommodation: Teahouse
A crucial rest day for altitude adaptation. Optional hikes include Manaslu Base Camp (4,800m) or Birendra Tal (glacial lake). These hikes offer breathtaking glacier views and help prepare your body for higher elevations ahead. Rest, hydration, and slow exploration are highly recommended.
Accommodation: Teahouse
A short and easy trekking day to aid acclimatization. The trail climbs gradually above the valley floor with views of Manaslu glaciers and the Tibetan border region. Samdo is a remote village close to the Tibet frontier, inhabited by Tibetan-origin communities.
Accommodation: Teahouse
We ascend slowly toward Larkya Phedi, the base for crossing the high pass. The terrain becomes rugged and alpine with cold winds and minimal vegetation. This is a preparation day for the most challenging section of the trek. Early rest is essential.
Accommodation: Basic mountain lodge
The most demanding and rewarding day begins early in the morning. The ascent to Larkya La Pass is gradual but physically tough due to altitude and cold. From the top, you are rewarded with spectacular panoramic views of Himlung Himal, Cheo Himal, Kang Guru, and Annapurna II. After soaking in the views, we descend steeply to Bimthang.
Accommodation: Teahouse
The trail descends through lush rhododendron forests, alpine meadows, and river valleys. This section feels greener and warmer as we re-enter the Annapurna region. We reach Dharapani, a major trekking junction.
Accommodation: Teahouse
After breakfast, we drive via Besisahar back to Kathmandu. The journey passes through winding mountain roads and scenic countryside. Arrival in Kathmandu by evening and transfer to hotel.
